                Using Keywords and/or Filters on Different Days
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Please refer to my FAQ files entitled:
     (1). Filters Vs. Keywords;
     (2). Blue Wave Bundling Command Macros
        The instructions in this file work only in Blue Wave mail doors.
     There are some days I want to download additional echomail areas that
     I don't normally download daily. There are several reasons for this.
     One reason is that some areas are too slow and get less than 20
     messages per week. There is no reason for me to download them on a
     daily basis because for me, it's not worth it. I'd rather get a weeks
     worth of messages at one time, in one packet, if there's only 18 to
     22 messages. Another reason is that in some of the technical echoes I
     only want to download twice per week but also keyword search them for
     names of certain software I'm interested in, instead of all messages
     about all software. By downloading only twice a week instead of daily
     I find I get better threads about the software I'm interested in,
     usually questions and answers in one mail packet. For me, it's
     convenient to read message threads all in one packet.
     Blue Wave makes doing these things with Keywords and/or Filters easy.
     Since we cannot download echomail areas unless they are selected we
     must preselect them. Conveniently, Blue Wave has the - (minus)
     command. We select all the echoes we want but can minus them out of
     our download packets on the days we don't want them and/or add them
     in on the days we do want them by using the + (add) command. If we
     also download large echo areas such as the Blue Wave echo, we can
     if we choose, first download one packet and then immediately
     download a second packet containing our smaller or special echoes.
     Here is an example of Bundling Command Macros to illustrate how to
     do this.
                Number    EchoName              D/L Frequency
                1001      Blue Wave Support     Daily
                1002      Interuser             Daily
                2013      Doghouse              Twice per week
                2024      Motorcycles           Once per week
                2055      VietNam_Vets          Once per week
                2076      Qedit Support         Once per week
     All the above areas must be preselected for download in the Blue
     Wave mail door.
     Downloading scans all our echo areas for all messages. We want to
     minus out the once and twice per week echoes in the above example.
     The Bundling Commands to do this are:
  Do This:
  Daily:           -2013 n2013 -2024 n2024 -2055 n2055 -2076 n2076 (Note #1)
  Twice per week:  +2013
  Once per week:   +2013 +2024 +2055 +2076
     Note #1. The bundling command "n" in "n2013" etc tells Blue Wave to
              NOT update the message read pointers.
     Because the daily bundling command string is so long (8 commands) we
     would assign it to Macros M1 and make it automatic so it would work on
     every download without us bothering with it.
     The twice per week bundling command would be assigned to Macros M2 and
     be manually typed at the : prompt in the Blue Wave door ONLY _once_ a
     week when we want echo number 2013.
     The once per week bundling command would be assigned to Macros M3 and
     be manually typed at the : prompt in the Blue Wave door on the one day
     per week we want the rest of the echoes. Since this also includes the
     Doghouse echo (2013) we'd only use macro M2 once, and M3 once a week.
     As you can see by the + I'm adding back the areas I want to download
     on the days I want them, but minusing them automatically the rest of
     the time, and not having the message read pointers updated. The read
     pointers only get updated when we do the actually downloading.
     The examples above do not yet do keywords or filters because I haven't
     used the keyword or filter commands yet.
     Now let's suppose I use filters in area 2013 and keyword search areas
     2024, 2055 and 2076.  I change the bundling commands to:
  Daily:           -2013 n2013 -2024 n2024 -2055 n2055 -2076 n2076
  Twice per week:  +2013 F2013
  Once per week:   +2013 F2013 +2024 K2024 +2055 K2055 +2076 K2076
     Now the above commands do exactly what I want them to do on the days I
     want use them. The + command adds back the areas for downloading and
     then do the filtering and keyword searching before downloading begins.
     All I have to remember to do is type either M2 or M3 at the : prompt
     in the Blue Wave mail door on the days I want these echoes.
     I have my keywords in the Blue Wave Mail door, in the keyword section,
     the Filter-words in the Filter section, the Bundling Commands in the
     MACROS section. I can change my Keywords, Filters and the Bundling
     Commands using the Blue Wave reader's Offline Configuration.
     Daily... this bundling command string is assigned to Macros M1 and is
     set to automatic so I don't have to type the long string every day.
     Twice per week... this bundling command string is assigned to Macros
     M2 but is not set to automatic. After the Blue Wave door scans the
     message base for all my echomail areas, Macro M1 is done automatically.
     I'm returned to the ":" (colon) prompt. On days I want the Doghouse
     echo (2013) I type M2 at the ":" prompt and that bundling command
     string is performed.
     Once per week... this bundling command string is assigned to Macros M3
     and also is not set to automatic. On the days I want the Doghouse
     echo, plus the Motorcycles, Vietnam_Vets and Qedit Support echoes I
     type M3 at the ":" prompt. Note, I don't use M2 on these days.
     This is just one example of using Bundling Command Macros. There
     are many ways to use them depending on what you want to accomplish. I
     doubt any two people will do the same thing, so no two people will
     have the exact same Bundling Commands.
     If your are running an "unattended" script file, then you cannot do
     the above because it requires manual user input. If you have 3 script
     files for the various days, then it can be done.
     If this FAQ File helps you to understand Bundling Commands better
     then my goal has been achieved!  Happy Blue Waving!
                             Hope this helps! (tm)
